Summate V2 Migration Complete: A New Era for Personalized Digests

As of today, August 31st, 2025, every Summate user is now on V2. The old platform is officially retired, and frankly, good riddance.

I know migrations can be scary. We've all been through those "exciting new updates" that break everything we loved about a product. But here's the thing: this migration wasn't about change for change's sake. It was about building the product we should have built from the start.

Let me walk you through what happened, why we did it, and what this means for you.

When we launched Summate V1, we set out to solve one problem: email newsletter overload. And we did! But as thousands of you started using it, we heard the same feedback over and over:

"I love this for newsletters, but what about my YouTube subscriptions?"

"Can I create separate digests for work and personal?"

"I want different schedules for different topics."

The problem? V1's architecture couldn't support this. We'd built ourselves into a corner. We could keep bolting features onto a shaky foundation, or we could do the hard thing: start over and build it right.

We chose the hard thing.

V1 was essentially one big inbox with some categorization. V2 flips this completely. Now you can create unlimited personalized digests, each with:

• Its own set of sources (newsletters, RSS, YouTube, podcasts)
• Custom delivery schedule (daily, weekly, monthly - you choose)
• Tailored AI summarization based on what matters in that context
• Independent settings and preferences

Want a daily "AI News" digest for work, a weekly "Indie Hacking" digest for your side project, and a monthly "Investment Trends" digest for your portfolio? Done. Each one works independently, delivered exactly when you want it.

V1 was... okay on mobile. Let's be honest. V2 is built mobile-first. Every screen, every interaction, every feature works beautifully on your phone because that's where most of you actually read your digests.

Remember when you needed to book a setup call just to get started? Yeah, we killed that. V2 includes a completely self-serve onboarding flow that gets you from signup to your first digest in minutes, not days.

Behind the scenes, we rewrote everything. New architecture, new database design, new AI pipeline. What this means for you:

• Better summarization: Our AI is smarter about extracting what matters

We started the migration on July 26th when we launched V2 Alpha. Over 30 days, we:

4. Optimized everything: Made sure V2 was faster and more stable than V1 ever was

And today, August 31st, we turned off V1 for good.

We didn't throw out everything. What made V1 special is still here, just better:

• Email forwarding still works
• Your saved items came with you
• Your grandfathered pricing is locked in forever

V2 isn't the finish line. It's the foundation. Now that we're all on the new platform, we can move faster than ever. Here's what's already in the works:
